Adam Childs is Director & General Manager of Barkell Ltd. Adam originally joined Airedale International Air Conditioning Ltd as Quality Manager in February 2015 and is still instrumental in the delivery of Airedale’s quality manufacturing processes. He made his transition into his role at Barkell in September 2016.
Adam is originally an Apprentice trained Aircraft Mechanic and has completed the qualifications of HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds and BA (Hons) in Business & Management. Adam is an experienced manager and leader who has a strong background and belief in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
In his spare time, Adam unwinds by spending time with his children. He is also an avid health enthusiast and enjoys going to the gym.
Paul Harris is manager of the southern sales team for Barkell. With over 20 years’ experience of delivering high profile projects, Paul established Barkell’s London office in 2014 from where he is responsible for sales, estimating and commercial operations for the south of the UK.
A former elite marathon runner, Paul was part of the team that delivered the athletics events at the London 2012 Olympics. In his spare time he now cycles and has been known to pop from John O’Groats to Lands’ End.
Nick Ratcliffe is manager of the northern sales team for Barkell. Nick has been in the Air Handling Unit industry for over 30 years, and joined Barkell in 2013, where he has progressed to being regional manager, looking after areas from the Midlands up to Scotland and Northern Ireland as well. Nick enjoys the challenge of the competitive and fast moving AHU industry.
Out of work, Nick is a keen tennis, squash and badminton player and also enjoys fine dining and holidays.
Steven joined Barkell as a CAD engineer after leaving college in 1998. After a 2 year spell in the drawing department, where he learned the specifics of AHU construction, Steven moved into the estimating team, focusing on the design & quotation of new projects. He then spent 10 years in the contracts department overseeing the final design, procurement & production of multiple large AHU orders. Steven was promoted into his current position of Technical Manager in 2013. He now oversees all technical elements of the business along with managing the warranty, tech support, quality and development teams.
Outside of work Steven enjoys spending time with family and friends and listening to music.
Steve joined Barkell Ltd in 2015 as Controls Manager, taking on added responsibility of the Aftersales department in December 2019. Steve has a strong track record in the BMS industry, originally starting as a Technician Apprentice within the energy management industry. His career followed the BMS & electrical design route, which included a 7 year stint at a major M&E Design Consultant and a secondment to Saudi Arabia. Steve has worked for several major controls manufacturers and brings a wealth of experience to Barkell.
In his spare time, Steve enjoys outdoor pursuits ranging from mountain biking & skiing to just working in the garden.
As Customer Service Manager Chris is responsible for the order process, engineering and pricing departments at Barkell Ltd. Since joining Barkell in September 1998, Chris has developed extensive technical knowledge of the AHU industry through his varying roles. Chris became Contracts Manager in 2016 and advanced his role to Customer Service Manager in 2019.
Chris is a passionate team leader with a strong commitment to innovation and product development. In his spare time Chris is an avid squash player and enjoys spending time with his friends and family.
